POLICE SEEK COUPLE WHO ASSAULTED FEMALE MOTORIST Authorities are seeking a man and a woman who are suspected of assaulting an area woman motorist on U.S. 30 south of Scappoose Tuesday afternoon. The Multnomah County sheriff's office said the victim was driving from St. Helens to Portland at about 4 p.m. when the woman suspect, appearing distressed, flagged the victim down near the Wildwood Golf Course. When the driver pulled over, a man leaped from the bushes and assaulted her. Deputies said the victim was not seriously injured.
SUSPECT IN COOK MURDER INDICTED
A Columbia County grand jury on Tuesday handed down a murder indictment against Michael Paul Andes, 25, of Portland. Andes is accused of the murder of 17 year old Krystle Rose Cook, whose remains were found February 9 in an unmarked grave in a remote logging area of Apiary southwest of Rainier. The girl had been missing since February 2, 2000, after she failed to return from an outing in Longview, where Andes had driven her. At the time of her disappearance, Andes was the live-in boyfriend of the victim's mother, according to authorities.
